In every case, a ticket inspector is obliged to give you a written record of your fine and payment confirmation with their signature. Make sure you don’t leave any debts unsettled – the city transport office claims fines even from abroad.
If you do not pay the fine on time, the transport company will hand over the matter to the law firm and your case might and up at the court.
Ticket inspector have an official badge. They might wear a uniform but they can be in plain-clothes too. If you have doubts about their authenticity, you can ask to see their ID card which has to have the same number as their badge. If you don’t want to pay on the spot and you’re not carrying your passport, ticket inspectors will call the police in order to confirm your identity.

International Driving Permit for driving in the Czech Republic
It’s important to note that if the information in your driving licence is not stated in Latin alphabet (for example, it’s in Russian, Arabic, Thai etc.) or if it misses your photo, you may come across problems here. In such case I recommend you getting your licence officially translated or getting an International Driving Permit. You need to do this before you leave the country that issued your driving licence.
An International Driving Permit or a certified translation of your licence are required in Czech Republic alongside your foreign driving licence if the latter doesn’t provide the necessary information in letters that a Czech police officer could read. More information about exchanging or obtaining the Czech driving license can be found here – Czech driving licence for foreigners [explained + infographic] (praguereferral.cz).
